FROM OUR 2005 PRESS RELEASE:
WAITIKI is a new Boston-based tiki-tainment group that takes audiences on an exotic, South Pacific sound adventure like no other. Along with their own library of original exotica music, WAITIKI also plays tribute to the classic tiki tunes of Martin Denny, Arthur Lyman, and Les Baxter... basically, anything that permits the frequent use of bird-calls, the guiro (chi-yah chih chih chi-yah chih chih) or the melodica!
WAITIKI's first record is seasoned with traditional, and contemporary flavors found only in the village of Okonkulukú - from the classic Denny tunes "Manila" and "Primativa," to the twisted antics of "Satyritar" and the wacky stories told in "March of Chief MauMau" and "Fuzzy Mammoth Breath."
WAITIKI also debuts the first-ever "Alo-hop" song with "Cave of Uldo,"and no WAITIKI show would be complete without everyone's favorite song about grammarian pandas and punctuation, "Pan-XOTIKDa."
Charred Mammal Flesh features the zany antics of WAITIKI at full throttle. Complete with the never-before-heard sacrifice of a live watermelon, it's the first of a new tidal wave of exotic tiki-tainment not seen or heard in decades!
